Hong Kong Photo Diary

Feature Image

I think it’s safe to say that I ended 2015 with some great memories. Last month I was able to spend a short six days in Hong Kong and it was such a great experience! This was my first time visiting Hong Kong (being in HK airport for transit one time sadly doesn’t count – despite how much I loved their airport).

I loved the hustle and bustle of this city and it seemed great in the beginning, but this super high-density living, fast paced and crowded hub is somewhere I cannot imagine myself living in long term. It’s insane over there.

Obviously I couldn’t pass up on the desserts?!

Apart from HK’s congee, their roast goose was BOMB. We had to go for second rounds before we left. Heck yeah. The one pictured below is from a restaurant with a 1 Michelin star rating.

One of my highlights was definitely overlooking Victoria Harbour in Tsim Sha Tsui. Again, it was SUPER crowded, but the view and atmosphere made up for it.

Victoria Peak was pretty cool… another highlight was riding in Hong Kong’s oldest mode of transport; peak tram. The fog was pretty stubborn that day, but that didn’t stop us from having a good time!

Surprise! I made a short video with all my compiled footage from the trip! This is really nerve-wracking for me because it’s my first time editing a video and I know I’m a real amateur with this stuff, so it’d be great if you could show it some love… and maybe some advice! Also, I had issues with the music and the original song had some copyright issues, so I had to settle for the current one. Hope you enjoy :)

Japan Photo Diary | Part II

Processed with VSCOcam with hb2 preset

Okay so apologies for posting part two so late! I’ve been so preoccupied with uni assignments and work that fitting this in to my schedule was a bit of a struggle. But alas! It’s Friday night and I thought I’d give myself a break from all the chaos during the week. So here is part two from my Japan trip. We ate so much food, I’m not even kidding. But it was so worth it. Here, I’ve shared with you moments mostly from Osaka…

I still can’t believe how I finished this 20cm soft serve! Tasted soooo good though. I think the was called Daily Choco, located in Osaka.

Universal Studios is a must, however if you’re going during peak season, waiting for roller coaster rides was the worst, especially when it’s 32 degrees and the wait period is two hours long.

Went a bit crazy on the buns at Universal Studios haha…

Hokkaido milk soft serve! Can’t miss this if you ever go!

Tried a popular ramen place in Tokyo station on our last day called Rokurincha. Waiting period was around 40-45 minutes.

Some of the goods I bought when I was there :) Their stationery is to die for.

Overall, I had a really great trip and created amazing memories with dear friends. I would definitely want to go back some day and visit places I didn’t get to go during this trip and see the more cultural side of Japan rather than just eating and shopping :)

I’ll also be heading over to Hong Kong and Malaysia in a few months to meet Jenny’s daughter! So keep you eyes peeled for travel photos then :)

Japan Photo Diary | Part I

Excuse my disappointing Japanese writing. I don’t know the language. I just copied “konnichiwa” in Google translate. Yep. But focusing on the more important thing… I went to Japan last month! This was my first time travelling with friends… which was interesting… but mostly fun :) I’ve shared some snippets here and there, a general summary of my trip. It was hard picking the main highlights (because there were so many!), but I think I’ve got a nice collection for you all to look through, otherwise you guys would be scrolling for years haha.

We started off in Tokyo first, staying in a quaint and cosy apartment in Shibuya, not far from the city centre. The first day was mostly spent exploring the city and familiarising ourselves to our home for the next week.

Processed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetThe infamous Shibuya crossing, which gets hectic during night time and peak hours. We got to enjoy this view during lunch at L’occitane Cafe :)

Processed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetBut of course we couldn’t say no to Japanese favourites and we found this amazing 24/7 ramen place called Ichiran. Holy crap I’m getting hungry as I’m writing this…

Processed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetThis view could not be missed! And we were lucky enough to witness it at sundown at Roppongi Hills. How pretty are these pink hues!

Processed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetMori Art Museum was also located in Roppongi Hills and I swear Japanese art is insane. Their minimalism is on point.

Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetOf course… Disneyland. SUCH A FUN DAY. I spent so much money on food and merchandise, but it was TOTALLY worth it. First Disneyland experience was a definite success!

Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetAbundance of sorbets to cool off… it was bloody hot that day. But still worth.

Processed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb2 presetWe decided to go to Tolo Cafe & Bakery for brunch one day to try these adorable Totoro cream puffs! And we couldn’t resist the pasta. Tasted so good….

Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetSpent some time in Harajuku landing ourselves with some pretty cheap finds! And crepes. As good as mine looked… the top half was just cream, when I was anticipating ice cream :( Lesson learnt for next time!

Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetCouldn’t pass up Calbee’s chocolate drizzled potato chips with Hokkaido milk soft serve. It was like Maccas fries with soft serve, but next level. SO GOOD.

Sorry that a lot of these photos are just food, but that is seriously what we did mostly on our trip! Part two will be up soon where my Japan adventures continued in Osaka! Stay tuned :)

Europe iPhone Photo Diary

As promised, I’ve posted some of my favourite travel pictures taken on my iPhone from Europe! London was so exhausting, but so fun. We got to see all the main tourist attractions and we ended the trip really nicely with an amazing theatre production of Lion King. I would love to come back here again and visit the city more in depth. Seriously, the architecture there…

London

Paris, as you can imagine was pretty amazing. I think I could see myself living here one day. And I mean… the food was insanely impeccable. OMG. That’s all I have to say. Oh, and of course, how can you not fall in love with the Eiffel Tower, especially from an incredible view of Tour Montparnasse.

Hope you enjoyed my little wrap-up summary (photo style!) of my Europe trip. We’ll be putting up our travel photos from our ‘big camera’ in another post soon so look out for that… But for now I just want to say that I definitely want to go back! Both of us hope to return there again to do some more exploring!

London Photo Diary

Jenny and I embarked on an exciting adventure to London! It was our first time travelling together as sisters and it was my very own first time in Europe. When we first landed, we were exhausted and jet-lagged, but I was super excited for what those next couple of days entailed. We stayed at this cute serviced apartment situated in South Kensington, called Collingham Serviced Apartments and they were kind enough to give us a free upgrade (since Jenny had stayed there previously for work purposes)! Feeling hungry after a long flight, we took a nice stroll outside to Marks & Spencer and went crazy with food choices for dinner! Might I say… the berries were delicious! They were super sweet, fresh AND cheap. Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset Continue reading

Our first full day in London was mainly a tourist-y one, since it was my first time. I was impressed with its architecture. I mean… wow. And this city is rich in history; packed full of it, which was something I loved. Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset Jenny took me to this cute little back lane way, with many ‘London-esque’ doors and pot plants and flowers (lots of flowers). I was seriously in love. Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset We visited Regents Park and I’ve never seen so many flowers before. Even though it was just at the end of their rose season, I was still in awe of them. I really admire London’s appreciation for flowers! Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset Processed with VSCOcam with t1 preset We ended the night watching The Lion King musical at Lyceum Theatre and OMG, it was amazing. We only got to spend a day and a half here, and even though I had an amazing time, I wish we stayed for longer! There was still so much to be seen, to have learnt, and (much more) to buy! I’m definitely coming back. I would love to visit the outskirts of England and explore smaller towns next time. Having said that, I’m still grateful for those one and a half days. Hope you enjoyed reading that little recap! These photos were taken with my sister’s Fujifilm camera. I will be posting an iPhone Photo Diary from my Europe trip soon as well.
